Submissions for the Innovation of the year for the year 2025 is not open to steel makers but to final product manufacturers. Nominations can be made in any of the following topics:

  • Final construction product using steel to reduce carbon emissions.
  • Final steel construction product with improved performance:
    • Improvement in total construction costs
    • Reduction in construction period
    • Ease of construction
    • Specific performance criteria e.g. structural, insulation, fire resistance etc.
    • Improvements in manufacturing
  • Steel using engineering and construction solutions leading to improvements in final structure performance e.g.:
    • Cost, construction period, ease of construction, specific performances, etc
    • Low environmental effect
    • Improvements in reduce, reuse, recycle, remanufacturing technologies

Prize

The prize will be delivered during the award ceremony to take place at the constructsteel annual conference in (date and location TBD).

  • A constructsteel Award trophy to be awarded.
  • A slot in the constructsteel annual conference will be provided to showcase the project/practice/innovation/solution.
  • Social media promotion via constructsteel communications channels.
  • Free registration to constructsteel’s steel solution platform (for 3 years).
  • Opportunities to engage with steel producing constructsteel members in various global locations.
  • constructsteel assumes costs related to hotel and flight for the winner to attend the constructsteel conference.

Judging panel and criteria

  • There will be a judging panel consisting of internal and external judges. The external judges are the constructsteel Global Advisory Committee (GAC) and they will do the first round of review or pre-selection. Pre-selected nominations will then be sent to the constructsteel Leadership Team for the second round of review. Final scores reflect scores of both external and internal judges.
  • Projects that prioritize material efficiency through reduction, reuse, recyclability, and innovative manufacturing processes will be given greater weight by the Global Award Committee (GAC).
  • Based on the supporting evidence provided, the judges will assign a rating (1-10) for each criterion. The following is an example illustrating how the overall score is calculated for a nomination.
