Steel is shaping Al Habtoor Tower in Dubai

Rising 355.9 metres above Dubai’s Business Bay, Al Habtoor Tower demonstrates how steel can help deliver the next generation of high-rise buildings. Using a hybrid steel–concrete structure with around 40,000 tonnes of structural steel, the project combines height, efficiency and resilience while supporting faster construction, reduced material use and future recyclability. From its composite columns and stabilising outrigger systems to its digital design-to-fabrication workflow, the tower shows how steel enables ambitious architecture to be built smarter, stronger and more sustainably.
