Overview
A method to rationalize the arrangement of lateral bracing members based on the effect of the floor slab has been developed. The purpose of this is as follows:
1) Improvement of structural stability: The development of a rationalized arrangement and design of lateral bracing members is intended to enhance the stability of the building.
2) Cost reduction: The conventional arrangement of lateral bracing members can be costly in terms of materials and construction processes. The purpose is to achieve cost reduction while ensuring sufficient lateral bracing stiffness through the development of a rationalized method.

Issue and/or innovation
Technical challenges include establishing appropriate design and analysis methods, as well as verifying numerical simulation and experimental results.
Technical details
Structural experiments and FE analyses to establish a design method were conducted. In the experimental study, a full-sized specimen of a beam with a floor slab was prepared to verify the lateral stiffening effect of the floor slab. In addition, FE analyses were performed to simulate the test results.
Specific solution/technical details
Construction rationalization to skip transverse stiffener.
Impact or effectiveness
Project cost reduction.
