Construction date: 2016-2018
Number of stories: 9
Gross floor area: 8,960m2
Adopted design code: SS EN 1990:2002; SS EN 1991-1-1:2002; SS EN 1993-1-1:1992; SS EN 1992-1-1:2004; SS EN 1994-1-1:2009; SS EN 1997-1:2010; SS EN 1998-1:2013; AWS D1.1 – 2000; BCA guides BC3 and BC4 used in parallel with Eurocodes
Engineer(s): Surbana International Consultants Pte Ltd
Contractor(s): Dragages Singapore Pte Ltd

Issue and/or innovation

To comply with the construction time requirement.

Reason for composite solution

To improve the compressive capacity of the column by adopting steel section infilled with high strength concrete.

Specific solution/technical details

Steel modular building.
Composite column design using BS EN1994-1 and BC4

Impact or effectiveness

Rectangular steel column infilled with high strength grout to achieve higher compression resistance. Steel modules were tied horizontally using concrete embedded steel plates. Achieve optimal column size for its modular unit without compromising the design capacity. Installation of 8-10 modules per day.
Construction duration: 5 months Speed of construction: 20% reduction on construction time
