Overview

The composite solution was chosen considering the optimized best technical solution.

Basic information (construction date, number of stories, gross floor area, adopted design code, engineer(s), Contractor(s), etc.)

Construction date: 2007
Number of stories: 19
Gross floor area: 142,350m2
Adopted design code: ABNT NBR8800, ANSI/AISC360, ASCE7
Engineer(s): Roberval José Pimenta, Alexander Galvão Martins, Gustavo Monteiro de Barros Chodraui
Contractor(s): Codeme & JCGontijo

Reason for composite solution

The composite solution was chosen, considering not only the optimized best technical solution (building height, gravitational/lateral forces applied, lateral resistance system adopted), but also the total cost, erection time-consuming and time to get the raw material from providers as well.

Specific solution/technical details

Composite steel concrete (columns, beams and slabs), steel bracings and concrete core for horizontal stabilization.

Impact or effectiveness

The composite solution provided the lowest steel weight conception leading to a lower cost.
